Vaccinations and immunizations are given by injecting a small sample of a known virus into the human body to strengthen the immune system. The body will fight off and become immune to the virus, no longer being able to contract the disease that the virus may cause. Although science has proven time and time again that vaccines are here to help our safety and us, some people are still skeptic about them and refuse to be vaccinated. This choice puts others at risk. Misinformation about vaccinations may be the underlying cause of the fear that pushes people to refuse vaccinations. Some people are afraid of contracting diseases after getting vaccinated, and others are afraid of other side-effects that vaccinations may cause including brain†¦show more content†¦Orozco believes that if a person decides they do not trust vaccines that they should not be forced into them or learn about them, because â€Å"we live in America where we’re supposed to be able to choose what we wa nt† (November 03, 2017). Information about vaccinations and whether or not people would accept them more if they were more educated about them was gathered during an interview. For the purpose of the interview, the interviewee asked for their name to be left out. Their thoughts on vaccinations were that vaccinations are harmful and that anyone can get sick if something goes wrong. The interviewee stated, â€Å"vaccines cause illnesses so thank goodness there is a way to not have to get them†. The interviewee must have been speaking about the exemptions that are provided for people who have different personal and religious beliefs on the vaccinations. When asked if it was possible that people may be more willing to have vaccinations if they knew more about them, the interviewee stated â€Å"yeah, it’s possible but a lot of people know the dangers of it already and even if they know more about it they are still going to have their own opinions about them†.
